Happy Tails 2012

Duke

Adopted BoxerDarby has settled nicely into his new home. He enjoys all three of his beds on a daily basis. He has also discovered all the benefits of his dog friendly neighborhood on his walks. While he is still anxious around new people and specifically men, he is continually conquering new fears. While as a one and half year old Darby doesn't know his own strength, it sure is fun to watch him bounce across the yard like he's on a Pogo stick. We had our first of what I hope to be many weekends camping, hiking trails and romping in the water. Only next time he's carrying his own food and water! And while we are both still new at this, it seems we are both learning to love each other... As evidenced by the fact that he's sleeping on my feet while I write this.

Mo

Adopted BoxerMo came to ABR after his previous owner was deployed overseas. It didn't take this sweet boy long to find a forever home with his new dad. They enjoying going on walks everyday together. They also frequent the dog parks to meet new friends. Mo and his new dad are very happy they found each other.

Koko

Adopted BoxerKoko (now Petey) found his forever home!! And Petey sure is a lucky boy! Petey's new mom knew from the moment she met him that this silly pup was the right fit for her! Even after Petey bit his own tongue trying to pick up her exercise ball during their meet & greet!! This goofy boy now has his perfect mom and dad who take him on all kinds of adventures. He even gets to travel to the mountains and the beach! Plus, Petey is the only pup in the home - so he gets ALL the attention!! Petey sure did hit the jackpot! Congratulations to Petey and his forever family!!

Esme

Adopted BoxerWe are so happy for beautiful little Sadie (formerly known as Esme)! She has found her forever family! They report she is a funny girl, she loves her big fenced in backyard. She loves to run as fast as she can, toys from the store are great but Sticks are better..... She now likes to sleep next to fur brother Brody and when she can shares a pillow with Tucker when resting on the couch – Because of their schedules she spends more time with her momma but Mom thinks she loves Dad more lol!! ..... She wiggles her whole body when she greets him and LOVES to snuggle up next to him... and He Loves it that she loves him that much! They are good for each other! Congratulations on finding the perfect forever home!

Templeton/Jaz

Adopted BoxerWe are so excited for Odie (previously known as Templeton) and his new family! His new mom and dad had been babysitting a boxer and fell in love with the breed. They met Odie at Boxerstock and decided he was the right dog to complete their family. Odie can now be found running, jumping and playing in the backyard, wrestling with dad, or playing at the dog park! His mom and dad report he is settling in wonderfully and met the family over the holidays. They said he behaved himself quite well! Congratulations to Odie and his forever family! Thank you for making our boy so happy!

Vincent

Adopted BoxerCongratulations to Vincent and his family! Vincent has found the perfect forever family complete with a skin brother and sister, cats, and chickens! He is lots of area to run and lots of people to love on him! They report he is doing great and they just love him! He can be found playing with his family or cuddled up getting some much deserved love from his family! Congratulations Vincent! We miss you but know you are well loved and being spoiled as any good boxer should!

Téo

Adopted BoxerTéo  ( now Wilson) was rescued late on a Saturday afternoon from a shelter as time drew short.  He was very, very thin, had a cold and was very quiet.  He had serious eyes in that cute, quizzical face.  He proved to be a smart, very well behaved and sweet dog.  Now Wilson is part of a great family that will love him and continue to  “fatten him up”.  Wilson is actually going off to college with their young daughter. How far the lucky Wilson has come! He and his sweet, young  owner will make each other very happy.

Rusty

Adopted BoxerRusty got an awesome home just in time for the holidays. He loves chasing tennis balls and is making friends with the cats. His ball went under some furniture and he is using his Jedi mind trick to try & get it back :)

Zahara

Adopted BoxerZahara (now Ruby) has been adopted by wonderful family who already love her. She came to ABR skinny, pregnant, with parasites and heartworm positive.  She was treated for the parasites and delivered her puppies.  When the pups were weaned, she was spayed and then treated for the heartworms. Now this sweet, sweet dog is healthy, beautiful and already enjoying her new family. The two young children are helping her explore their big backyard. She’s looking forward to long walks with her new Mommy.

Zoey

Adopted BoxerZoey found her forever home just in time for Christmas! She will be a constant companion for her new little boy and a jogging partner for her new mom. Her new dad is in the military, so when he has to be away she will watch over her new family and enjoy all the treats and love that they have to give. Congratulations Zoey - the best is yet to come!

Suzie

Adopted BoxerSuzie, now known as Zoey, is in her forever home! Suzie came into ABR from a shelter (and likely there from a puppy mill where she was a breed dog) very skinny with a severe wound on her shoulder, perhaps from a gunshot and burns. Her new mom and dad previously had two boxers and had just lost their boxer Pete to cancer in August. They saw Suzie at Boxerstock and immediately fell in love with her – they took her home that very day. She is a momma's girl during the day and a daddy's girl when her daddy gets home from work. She is doing great in her new forever home, putting weight back on, recovering from her wounds, and providing unlimited love to her new parents. Of course, she is spoiled – she immediately claimed her spot in the middle of the bed between mom and dad. She is such a sweet little girl and will be missed in her foster home but it is okay since she is happy in her forever home.

Max

Adopted BoxerMax is so very lucky his mom choose him ! She had a lot of boxer experience and knew max would need some patience, and time to come out of his shell . We have gotten updates of max running & playing, with tail wags & barks so we know he couldn't be happier!

Moe

Adopted BoxerWelcome to Moe! Moe is a happy go lucky 10-month old puppy who found his forever home in mid-October 2012. His new forever family had him picked out almost since the day ABR first got him. They recently had lost their 2 Boxers and really wanted a new companion in the house. While waiting out his heartworm treatment, Moe’s new family called a couple times a week to check up on him. They are so excited to have a new edition in their house (Moe even has a pool!).

Holly

Adopted BoxerHolly came into ABR because her family could no longer care for her. Her ideal home was a family with kids and at least one person home during the day. The day after she came into rescue, her forever family was approved to adopt. They were looking for a companion for their young brindle boxer, Roxie. Well Holly hit the jackpot. Her forever family has two kids, two dogs and two adults that work out of the home. She will rarely be without human companionship and will always have a fur friend or two to keep her company. Holly can now be found romping in the backyard and/or playing in the pool (which has a tanning ledge that is perfect for the pooches to splash in). We are thrilled for Holly and her new family.

Boone

Adopted BoxerBoone has lucked out! He has a furever home now where he has a mama all to himself. He will get to go jogging with her and enjoy all of her attention.

Saydee

Adopted BoxerSaydee now has a great forever home. She gets to spend the rest of her life as an only dog but does have to spend some time with a few cats. She will get to enjoy running with her new daddy. She is going to be one spoiled girl. She deserves the great life she will get in this forever home!!

Reuben

Adopted BoxerReuben (now Bruno) was beginning to think that his perfect forever family might never find him, but after one year in foster care, they did! As is the case with so many of our fosters, Bruno had a rough start in life, enduring several medical issues and neglect. He has overcome a lot, so he is understandably happy to be adopted by a sweet, boxer-loving, retired couple. They live in a quiet rural area with plenty of land for Bruno to explore, and report that he is already taking notice of the various critters that cross their property! His Mom has already put cushy pillows in each room of their home, so Bruno can always be near them in comfort. Congratulations Bruno on ending up in the best circumstances possible - you deserve it!

Max

Adopted BoxerCute little 7 month old Max has a new family. Max was the "hyper" puppy who needed a dog friend and someone who could exercise him throughout the day. Max hit the jackpot. He now has a boxer buddy (who is 2010 ABR alum Duke, now known as Mic). His dad works out of the house so he will have someone with him most of the time. And he has a skin sibling with whom he will grow up. His mom will be around in the evenings and on the weekends to spoil him. Congrats on your new family!!!

Wilson

Adopted BoxerFrom the moment he met his new fur sister Sailor, it was love at first site for Whalen (formerly Wilson)! The two pups bonded right away, running around the yard and snuggling in the grass. Whalen's new parents said that Sailor would be the one to tell them when they found the right dog for her - and she sure let them know! According to their parents, Sailor and Whalen have been inseperable, and their daddy even found them snuggling in the bed on Whalen's first day home. These pups are definitely two peas in a pod, and we couldn't be happier for them! Congratulations Whalen on finding your forever home - complete with perfect parents and a perfect fur sister!

Nina

Adopted BoxerNina found her forever home!! Silly Miss Nina now has a fur sister to play with all day, and her very own swimming pool! What a lucky dog! Not to mention great forever parents that love her to pieces. Nina's mom recently said, "Thanks again...for bringing us such a great dog! We love her more everyday!" While we definitely miss Nina's funny faces and silly antics, we know she is now part of the wonderful family she always deserved. Congratulations Nina!

Jaz

Adopted BoxerYahoo for Jaz (formerly known as Templeton)! He found himself his very own human to love, and teach, and care for! His new mom has never owned a dog before but had done lots of research and loved what she knew about the breed. She always wanted a dog and things had just never worked out until now! (You know good things come to those that wait!) His new mom loves his little pocket size and she is so excited about her new household member she was reading up on everything she could get her hands on, picking people’s brains so she could learn what to expect. They can be seen walking through their neighborhood and local parks together learning about each other and being best buds! His mom is always learning new things about how to be a good mom for Jaz and she is doing a fabulous job! Congratulations Jaz and his forever family!

Svetlana

Adopted BoxerSvetlana Now known as Sadie Mae is living the sweet life now! She has 10 acres and a fur brother and sister to investigate it with! She has a skin sister to play with too but her real love seems to be her new Dad. She is learning new things and mom reports she will do anything for cheese! She is a Velcro pup and follows her human family everywhere. They say she is a ‘sweet constant companion!’ She loves her comforts and can be found looking for a soft spot in the pillows, sofa throws, or a bed! Congratulations Sweet Svetlana and her new forever family!

Blake

Adopted BoxerBlake came to ABR from North Georgia and was a very skinny boy. We don't know his story or how he ended up in the streets but he is living the good country life now! Blake was adopted by a wonderful couple who live on a a large piece of land and have a Boxer, Rosie. The new parents say that Blake is their shadow. He will follow his mommy around all day until his daddy gets home and then follows him around. Blake and his new sister Rosie make a great pair and have a blast running and playing in the yard. All Blake wanted was to be loved and he has found his perfect home where he gets plent.. We are so happy for Blake that he has found his forever home.

Rocky, Sr.

Adopted BoxerRocky Sr. has struck it BIG! His new family is a loving trio of skin friends. Rocky will spend his days lounging around the home office during the week and spend his weekends on the family farm. He will get exclusive care during the week, enjoying trips to the salon, outdoor patio dining, and regular dog massages! On his weekend retreats he will share 20 acres with 3 dogs, 2 cats, horses, and even pot belly pigs! He has earned the very best and will enjoy his golden years in style and luxury.

Murphy

Adopted BoxerHere's a story of a diamond in the rough who needed to be polished and shown for its beauty within. Murphy was my first Foster, he came to me and had no social skills, had no clue what a toy was, he was missing hair but just wanted to be loved. After many months he started to come out of his shell. He and my own dog Buster played, snuggled and he loved all his new doggie toys. He wasn't afraid of his own shadow or the rain. His fur for the most part started to grow back. He was built like a brick house and after three meet and greets he found his new owner who saw his beauty within and ignore any imperfections he had on the outside. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyhow he was adopted and I've been told he is a sweetheart and living the life he so deserved. So I'm a believer good things can come out bad situations sometimes happy tails do come true. Good thing I keep in contact with his owner and comes for sleep overs when his owner goes out of town.

Coco

Adopted BoxerCoco came to ABR from a puppy mill. She was skin and bones with a flea infestation & skin infection so horrible, they thought she had mange! The poor girl would just crawl into your lap and sit hoping to stay forever. It just so happened a tragedy for a family turned into a once in a lifetime opportunity for Coco. A family had just lost their boxer, Ms. Penny, to a sudden onset of BCM – Boxer Cardio Myopathy. Sweet Ms. Penny was playing in the back yard and just collapsed. Hoping to ease their pain, the family looked to adopt another Boxer to share some of their love they had for Ms. Penny. Sure enough, Coco, now known as Dolly, was exactly what they needed. Dolly was quite nervous, but eventually sealed the deal when she crawled into the lap of Dad who was sitting in his recliner at the time! There was no denying that it was true LOVE! Ms. Dolly is now spoiled and enjoying a huge yard, her BIG brother Petey and little kitty sister Chloe. I’m sure Ms. Penny had something to do with this match-up and is watching over them all!

Champ

Adopted BoxerChamp (now Charlie) was adopted by a great couple today. They have had three boxers in the past. Though they have not had a dog recently, they were ready and excited to add a boxer to their home. Champ, the one year old boxer, fit their needs perfectly. He is young, sweet, and obedient. His puppy energy will be burned off with twice daily walks and playing with all his favorite toys. (They took notes on what toys to buy). In addition to everyday living, he will get to travel to both the mountains and the beach with his new owners. They also have grandchildren and a "granddog" that visit a couple of times a year. Champ now gets to live the life that every dog deserves!

Payton

Adopted BoxerPayton is now in his loving forever home. He gets to join another boxer puppy. Payton and his new brother Captain will get to play everyday and have lots of fun together. His new mom and dad are very excited to have him in their home. Payton will enjoy spending the rest of his life playing with his brother and loving on his new mom and dad. Payton will be missed in his foster home but they know he got an even better forever home.

Sam

Adopted BoxerSam has found his forever home with a great family. He is going to be spoiled with being the only dog, he does however have to share his home with some cat friends. He will get to take long walks and runs with his new dad. He will also get to spend lots of time with his new mom since she only works part time. I know he will enjoy all of his trips to Petsmart. His foster family will miss him so much but know that he got an excellent forever family.

Norman

Adopted BoxerNorman came to ABR with a gash on his leg, extremely underweight, and heartworm, hook, and tapeworm positive. After surgery to clean out his wound, heartworm treatment and many big meals, this sweet boy was adopted by an amazing family. His new family has a female boxer that Norman hit it off with instantly. Norman now will enjoy his new big back yard, a loving home, and a playful fur-sister. Norman would barely look at the camera because he was so fixated on them! We're so happy for this big sweet loverboy for finding the forever home he deserves!!

Daigon

Adopted BoxerMitt (aka Daigon) was a special man from the day he came into ABR. He was so easy going and well-balanced that he got handed around a bit while the fosters tried to get the right dogs to the right homes. He was so patient with us and so accepting that we knew he was special! We didn’t know his forever family would be equally as special (or have such stories to tell!) Mom and Dad, living in New York – yes, I said they live in New York – were looking for the perfect boxer to make their home complete. They checked out the local rescue and started things there, but things just weren’t quite right. Alas! They have connections to ABR! So they checked out ABR’s site and found their man online! The application to ABR said ‘He is the one!’ So they ran their checks, set up remote meetings , then piled into their car filled with dog bed, dog toys, dog food, dog pampering paraphernalia and headed for a 2 day drive to get their new man! Mitt is in the lap o luxury now! They are head over heels in love with each other. They report that he is a perfect traveling companion, he got home and trotted through the house checking out his new place like he had always been there.  While being his goofball self out on a walk with dad ‘romping and stomping’ he slipped his collar and…sat down so dad could put it back on! He knows when he’s got it good! We are so happy for Mitt and his forever family and look forward to more Mitt stories!

Rocky

Adopted BoxerRocky found his perfect home! He has a boxer brother that will play with him all day long and then catch a snooze to recover for the next boxing match! It was love at first site for everyone. Rocky paid no attention to the foster family as soon as he met his mom and dad! He has a skin Uncle that volunteered to “keep Rocky for them!” We are so happy for Rocky that he has found the perfect forever home that will provide him with all the love, wrestling and boxing his little heart desires!

Chance

Adopted BoxerChance (now Louie) came to ABR as a stray from a very rural shelter. He was 5 years old and wearing a harness which was so tight it had to be cut off. Fast forward a few months, Chance is a well-mannered inside dog. He meets a wonderful couple with a young boxer named Rufus. Rufus needed a buddy to run in their large yard. Chance and Rufus immediately hit it off. They ran around the yard for an hour. Rufus's parents thought Chance was pretty special too. They let him on furniture and on them. Chance was loving it. We are so excited that Chance found his perfect forever home. Happy playing and hiking big guy!

Astro

Adopted BoxerAstro found his forever home! This sweet puppy found a home with a fantastic family. The mom and kids are at home for the summer, so they will be able to help Astro settle in! He loves those furless brothers and sister in his new home. Astro has been learning to play frisbee and ball and looks forward to living the good life with his new humans!

Gus

Adopted BoxerGus had a rough start before coming to ABR. He had a medical condition that his owner couldn't afford and they were going to have him euthanized. Thank God for the vet tech at WellPet Humane who contacted us and told us of Gus's plight. We were able to get Gus to GVS where his new daddy first fell in love. After Gus healed, his new daddy was ready to take him home. Gus is now in a wonderful home where he will get lots of loving and gets to ride to work with dad as well. We are very happy for Mr. Gus!

Charlie

Adopted BoxerCharlie came to ABR on a very cold January day the day before he was to be put to sleep. He was very big, but very thin. His head was tilted sideways from an ear infection and he was very hungry, but that long tail of his wagged anyway. After gaining over 15 pounds and getting his ears and heart healthy, Charlie (the world’s best foster dog) was ready for a forever home. That day came for Charlie when a family fell in love with his face and the 8 year old daughter memorized his bio which she would happily recite to her Mom. They came and met him and Charlie fell in love with the girls as much as they did with him! Now known as Marley, the world’s best foster dog is now the world’s best family dog! Congratulations boy!

Pete

Adopted BoxerCongratulations to Pete! Pete has a new home of his very own where his bassett brother can be found in their huge back yard trying to keep up with ! Mom and Dad love Pete and report he is doing famously! Congratulations to the happy family!

Bosco

Adopted BoxerWe are so excited for Bosco (now Duncan) who has found his forever home! Mom says she named him Duncan because he looks like a yummy Duncan Hines brownie! He has a mom and dad of his very own and a wonderful fur brother to keep him company when mom and dad are at work. Duncan can be found lounging in bed with his fur brother or guarding the house from the maintenance crew spending too much time near their house. The new family says he settled in nicely and leaving new friends in his wake.

Mason

Adopted BoxerMason, now "Major" has found his forever home. His new parents adore him and have already filled the house with doggie beds, squeaky toys and all the other important doggie stuff. Dad works at home and will be able to spend a lot of time with this handsome fella. Mom is super excited for long walks and some good ole dog training time! I think Major will be one happy boxer! Hopefully we will meet again at a future boxer meetup. His foster family will sure miss him, but he went to an excellent family and has a great future to look forward to now :)

Hunter

Adopted BoxerHunter came to ABR about 20! lbs under-weight and with a very bad eye ulcer. His foster mom was concerned he might not get to keep his eye. But with time, medicine, and excellent TLC his eye healed, he put on weight and his personality shined through! Hunter is a very laid-back, well-mannered pup. His new family could not believe how sweet he was and were so impressed at how well-behaved he was they adopted him on the spot! He found a new best friend in a 10-yr old boy who LOVES to throw the ball for Hunter-which is his absolute favorite thing in the world. When not playing ball Hunter will surely curl up on the couch with his new mom and brother and relax in his happy forever home!

Diesel

Adopted BoxerHi! I'm Jake (the dog formerly known as Diesel). A lot has changed since you last heard from me. I found my forever family and they are awesome. My new mommy and daddy give me lots of love and attention. And I have a super-fun Boxer sister who is teaching me how to wrestle, chase, and play tug-of-war. I think she was the most excited about my arrival. She gives me lots of sloppy kisses and has even started to snuggle with me. Did you know about these things called "hot dogs?" Actually, they aren't dogs at all. They are the most awesome, delicious, amazing thing ever. My mom and dad have a lady come over to help me learn things and when I do what she says...I get a bite of hot dog! It's my favorite game. Mom and dad say it's supposed to help with my...uh...anxiety. Does anxiety mean getting out of my crate and sleeping on the bed all day? Oh well, as long as I get hot dogs, I'll do whatever they ask. I'd like to thank ABR for saving me and giving me a second chance. And a special thanks to my foster family for being so loving and helping me find my forever home. I hope to see y'all at a Boxer Meet-Up real soon!

Boss

Adopted BoxerWhat baby boxer doesn't want to be the center of attention? Boss has hit the jackpot in that respect. Boss has gone home to family of four where he can soak up all the love from mom, dad and his two skin siblings. His skin siblings were so excited to bring him home. And luckier still, this sweet boy will be well exercised and rarely alone with a Mom that runs (always a good companion for an energetic boxer) AND works from home! I’m very happy for Boss and his new forever family.

Merlin

Adopted BoxerFor Merlin, good things definitely come to those who wait. After over a year in foster homes (an all-time ABR record!), Merlin was adopted by the PERFECT family for him! Merlin's new mom is a long-time ABR volunteer, and coincidentally wrote his calendar entry for the ABR Calendar - thinking Merlin would be adopted by 2012, his mom-to-be wrote "Merlin is now living the life he always should have had: one filled with kindness, patience, and lots of love!" Little did she know then that she was describing her own home and family for our sweet Merlin! I'd say this one was definitely 'meant to be.' Merlin was adopted in February, just in time to make our March calendar boy's dreams come true. Congrats to Merlin and his new family!!

Harley

Harley's foster Mom was quite certain that it would take a special family to adopt Harley who needs lots of attention (both human and canine), training, and exercise. Well, he is getting that in spades. Harley was adopted by an amazing family. When his forever Mom saw his picture on the website, she said it spoke to her. His forever mom homeschools her four girls. His new Dad works mostly from home. So he will get human attention all day, every day. Their son brings over Bogey (his boxer) every weekend. And they have a 5-lb yorkie who loves to play with boxers. So he will also have his fill of canine companionship. They have previously had Rhodesian Ridgebacks (so the counter surfing and jumping were not intimidating to them). They have a dog trainer who comes to their house. So his manners will be top notch soon. Both parents walk or run at different times during the day, so he will get his much needed exercise. So happy Harley has found his amazing forever home!!!

Poppy

Poppy (now Polly) has found the perfect forever home! Her mom says Polly was born to play. She's never met a toy she didn't like. Polly is doing great and is so sweet and full of energy. They walk every day and she loves it. They've met some old friends and some new ones along the way. Polly loves loves loves the backyard. She chases the tennis ball and she loves to chase the squirrels. She is an only child and she is being showered with love and all the attention she desires! Congratulations to Polly and her forever home!
