Happy Tails 2011

Sasha

I had a hard time in the past 4 months but man, oh man, I have it good now.  I came into ABR with my brother because our people lost their house and we both had heartworms.  My brother was very very sick and they could not cure his heartworms.  I was sad, but had a good foster sister named Gertie who got me through it.  I then went through heartworm treatment myself and have been declared a healthy senior girl who does not act her age.  My foster Dad called me "hell on paws"  because as I felt better and better I got my groove on!  I wiggle my butt more like a Rottweiller than a Boxer but just love when people talk to me,  That is maybe how I found my forever home!  When a family came over to see my other ABR foster Boxer, Curly, who they adopted, I think they liked me.  After they took Curly home, they called back and wanted me too!!!!  My new family is young and active, what better to keep a senior girl going!  I cannot say enough about ABR who took me and my sick brother in and took care of us. And...most of all....I am so happy to be in my forever home with another brother to be with!

Frida

Frida (now known as Brizo, after the Greek goddess) found her perfect forever home in a one human household so she gets all of the attention she could ever want. She wakes him up every morning at 6:00 to start the day, no need for an alarm clock with a loving awakening such as that one. They go everywhere together and she is a playful (loves her toys) and so polite, pup. Whenever her new human grabs the leash, she sits patiently next to him and waits. Her human is in school so he has a flexible schedule that allows them to spend much time together throughout the day.

Phoenix

Phoenix was a tiny thing when she came to ABR, just 5 weeks old. She already had a bad case of Sarcoptic Mange and was struggling to get her feet under her. But with proper nutrition, exercise and lots of love, she recovered wonderfully and has found her forever family! She and her skin sister will grow up together. Raegan loves her Phoenix puppy and Phoenix loves Raegan and her new family. She enjoys a life playing with her skin sister, swimming at the lake, and running around her own yard! Congratulations Phoenix! We are so happy to see you healthy and in a loving home, enjoying your puppyhood!

Cooper

There was no question that when Cooper went on his home visit that he was right where he was suppose to be.  The family was in love and he was ready to call them HIS forever family.  Cooper started out a shy guy but since finding his forever home he has come out of his shell.  He enjoys play dates with other fur kids, long walks & rides in the car.  He even got to visit the beach for the first time ever over the holidays.  What a lucky guy Cooper is to find such and amazing and loving family!  Congratulations on finding your forever family Cooper!

Hurley

When ABR was first contacted about this boy, the animal control people said he was a very sweet boy. When his foster mom picked him up, he was all wiggles and a great “leaner.” His forever family was looking for a great family dog. They have a young son and needed a happy, friendly guy. By the end of their first meeting, their little boy was saying “Com’ere ‘Urley.” So sweet! Hurley’s new dad picked him up the next day. Everything continues to go well and they are all enjoying their new addition. Hurley and their son are now best friends. Yay, Hurley!!!!

Curly

I may be an ABR record! My foster mom picked me up from animal control, and 1 week later to the day, I found my forever family!!!! What a great Christmas gift! My new family has had a white boxer before, but lost Miss Ivory too early. My new dad is an actual hero, he just came back from Iraq serving our country with exceptional valor just three weeks ago! My new foster mom is awesome too, she just loved me from the first time she saw me. My new home is gonna be awesome, a young family for me, a young boxer! Thanks ABR for getting me out of animal control an finding me the very best family ever!

Olive

Olive came to ABR in a very rough state-skinny and dirty with ticks. But from the very first day her tail was wagging from being around people and getting petted. Within a few months she put on weight and vet care improved her condition even further. Just in time for her to start meeting potential families. Her first meet and greet was with a family who had just lost their elderly boxer and were longing for a companion. Upon meeting Olive, her new mom loved her from the very beginning and even loved her name. She was ready to say yes within 10 minutes of meeting her! They were taken with how pretty and sweet Olive was and were very excited about adding her to their family. Olive got adopted that SAME day and has now found a wonderful forever home where her semi-retired parents have time to love on her and give her the exercise and attention she's always deserved!

Molly

Congratulations to Molly, now Mazzy for finding her forever home. She now has a new fur brother Alex and fur sister, believe it or not, also named Molly!

When her foster family first received Molly, they fell in love with her. How could they not? She is such a wonderful boxer and they knew she would make someone a great fur baby!

Finally it was time to go on home visits. No problem, right? Well, after she had been on a few, and we still had Molly, it was apparent that she had not found that right click yet. Then came Molly and Alex and their parents. The minute she walked in and met the family, Molly knew she had found her forever home. She has a beautiful backyard that any dog would envy, and a wonderful house, that includes a big huge sofa that a dog would be in heaven on. But most of all, she has her loving family and forever home.

So congratulations to Mazzy...You found your click and may you have many dog wags!

Stella

Congratulations to Stella in finding her forever home. After a very short introduction, it was clear that Stella and the family were a perfect match. She has completed their household after the family lost their boxer, Frazier, earlier this year. As her new Mom said, “I think she rescued us a little bit, too.” She now has Mom, Dad and two skin sisters who enjoy playtime in the yard and playing “dress up” as you can see in the photo. Stella’s foster Dad will always have a special place in his heart for her. She is an amazing dog and and he couldn’t be happier for her and her new family. Cheers!

Duke

Duke came into Atlanta Boxer Rescue without a name.  His previous owner never named him nor his brother, Mack who were left in the backyard to live with no attention and they were eventually taken away from him so that they could find the love they deserve!  Duke's new parents spent a lot of time waiting and researching boxers and once they saw his face online they knew he was the one!  Upon meeting Duke, his parents faces lit up and they were ready to adopt him that day!  Duke went to his forever home and finally has the love and attention he's always wanted.

Dexter

Dexter is one happy boy! Not only does he have a new mom and dad to shower him with love, but he also has a great new big fur brother that's a German Shepherd! From the moment Dexter arrived at his new house, he made himself right at home by jumping through his new doggie door. Dexter is now trying to teach his new fur brother how to box! He sure is a lucky boy to have found such a fabulous forever home!

Toby

Boxerstock proved to be a hit for Toby. He found himself in the middle of a duel between this sweet lady and a young gentleman. Of course, Toby was loving all the attention. In the end, Ms. Sue won. Toby will get all the attention he needs, since he will be an only child. Sitting on the couch, lounging in the bed is not a problem. He is also going to get to sing in the choir, and of course he had to let the extended family know he was a huge football fan (even if he isn't). There are 4 vets in the family, so he will get all the care he needs. He now lives in Talladega, so Nascar will be seeing him in the stands. Way to charm the crowd Toby!

Grant

YAY for Boxerstock! Grant, now known as Toby, was pulled from the shelter on Wednesday and found his forever home at Boxerstock on Sunday! What a lucky guy! Toby decided to adopted a wonderful family of four. He now has a Mom, Dad & two wonderful skin sisters. His new Dad says that he looks like he is going to break a hip from shaking his hind end so much. If you ask me that’s the sign of a happy guy! Congrats to Toby and his new family!

Maggie

Maggie found her forever home.  She is going to be spoiled rotten and was told that she is "daddy's girl".  Not only has she found the perfect new mommy and daddy she also has 4 Italian greyhounds and several Arabian horses to play with on a 10 acre farm.  Maggie could have not found a better home and more importantly her new family could not have found a better dog.

Sydney

After a rough start in rescue, getting over kennel cough, a urinary tract infection and heartworms, Sydney (a.k.a. Sweets) went to her forever home. Sydney now has a stay-at-home mom, a US Marine dad, 2 skin siblings and 1 fur sibling (a Corgi)! We have even heard she has been a little counter-surfer in her new home (uh oh, I think her foster family forgot to mention that little habit)! Her foster-brother sure misses her, she was a great face fighter, but he knows she is in good hands now with her new family.

Guinness

Guinness, the beautiful young brindle boy has been adopted by a wonderful couple.  The husband is retired and volunteers as a baseball coach.  So not only will Guinness have a buddy at home, he will get to go to the ball field and make all kinds of new friends.  This couple also knows a thing or two about boxers.  Guinness is their sixth boxer.  They lost their old boxer, Luke, not too long ago and were really wanting another.   So, the day before his new Dad's birthday, Guinness went to his forever home. Your foster family will miss you, sweet boy. May you have many happy years making new friends, chasing balls, and bringing joy into peoples' lives!

Layla

Layla, now Riley is one lucky girl. Her new mom had been waiting patiently for the right time to bring a dog into her life. After graduating school, moving to Atlanta and starting a new job she was ready! Riley was pulled from the shelter by ABR ready to love someone. Perfect timing! Riley found herself the most wonderful and loving mommy ever. After a rough start at life Riley ended up exactly where she was suppose to be … a spoiled rotten only child. Congratulations to Riley Jane!

Annie

Hi, my name is Annie. Thanks to Atlanta Boxer Rescue I have adopted my forever humans, and now have a Mom, Dad, Brother, and Sister. I knew I was home as soon as I walked into their house. They immediately made me feel right at home by letting me explore the house to make sure I liked it. After I was done doing that, my brother and sister took me on a long walk so I could navigate my new neighborhood. It was a very exciting day for me feeling all the love they showed me and making me feel welcome. I am getting plenty of love and affection from them as they quickly learned that I am big into cuddling with my humans. I am still exploring my new home when I can, but I always return to where my humans are as they make my new house my HOME! I now have my own bed, a new collar, leash, and toys! My humans are great at teaching me to play with my new toys. They really are giving me the love and care I have always wanted and I am so grateful I am able to call them my family.

Bo

Bo’s life has taken a dramatic turn for the better. This super sweet boy has gone from being tied to a tree for months during the hot summer to living a life of spoils! Upon meeting Bo, his new family quickly fell in love with him and he became the newest member of their pack that very day. Bo’s mom and dad are a loving and energetic couple that adore their boxers. Bo’s sister Pringle is quite the athlete and will be a much needed leader and companion for him. It is the perfect family for Bo and I couldn’t be more excited for him. This precious little cuddler finally has the forever home that he very much deserves.

Hazel

A note from Hazel’s (now Diazee) new owners: “Thank you, thank you, thank you. As you know, this past weekend, my BFF died and I was a mess!(so was my Family). We contacted you, you got right on it…and we adopted Hazel...who is now Daizee!!! She loves it here, we love her....and, the best part is that Dulcee (my bff), angel that she is, sent Daizee to us. Daizee has lots of the same traits that Dulcee did...so we know, Dulcee sent her! Thank you ABR...you made us all so happy. Love, Buddy

Sookie

A note from Sookie’s (now known as Bandit) new owners: “We have been having so much fun with Bandit. She really has been a blessing to both of us. She has never had an accident in the house, and she loves the toys we already had for her that were left over from our last 2 boxers. She loves to play with anything!! She will play by herself for 30 or 40 minutes at a time. She gets so involved chasing things that we get tickled and just laugh our heads off. Boy is she entertaining!

She also loves to hear the word WALK. I'll grab her leash and off we go. She walks so well that we hardly have to use the training treats, but we do as a reward. She is busy learning down and stay, and I'm sure those won't take long for her to learn. She is a smart girl! We have had her for little over a month now and have yet to put her in a crate. She does so well on her own, we just haven't had too!”

Phoenix

Phoenix has found her perfect loving forever family. She has two skin siblings and a dad who works from home. Couple that with a mom who makes her homemade doggie treats, and you have a very happy ending for one special boxer. As an only doggie, Phoenix is receiving all of the love and attention she richly deserves from this very sweet family.  And as evidence that she is settling in nicely, she has finally found her voice and has recently begun to bark a little. Way to go Phe!

Agnes

Agnes was turned into a rural shelter by someone claiming they “found” her.  An ABR foster family picked her up, treated her for heartworms and gave her lots of love.  A wonderful family living in Athens saw her on ABR’s website and knew she was the dog for them!  Now Agnes has 3 skin sisters and two loving parents.  She has no fur siblings which is the way Agnes likes it since she likes to get ALL of the attention!  Agnes enjoys playing dress up, running around in her huge shaded yard and going on walks in the park right across the street from her new house.  Congratulations, Agnes, on finding such a perfect forever home!

Sadie

Sweet Sadie lady found her forever home today. She has a great new dad that works from home and can spend lots of time teaching her new things. And Sadie now has three new skin siblings that will really give her a run for her money! Her oldest skin sibling is in charge of walking her, so Sadie will surely get lots of exercise and playtime. Sadie loves being the center of attention, and we couldn't have asked for a better family to shower her with love! We are looking forward to seeing Sadie and her new pack at Boxerstock!

Gypsy

Gypsy found her forever home today. She will have the best of everything. A shopping spree in her honor has already been scheduled to pick up some new puppy swag. Her new dad has a flexible work schedule, so he will be able to spend lots of time with her. Gypsy's new mama is so excited to have another Boxer in their lives. Big-Little fur-brother giggled with delight as Gypsy coved his face with Boxer kisses! Gypsy will also have a fellow canine, Nugget,  at home to romp and play with. The family is looking forward to bringing Gypsy to Boxer bashes when she is big enough.

Roxie

Roxie the “pocket boxer” went to her forever home and she is happy as can be. She has 2 skin siblings, gets to go on walks and the park and has play dates with her friend Lala. Roxie’s new family have never had a dog before, but they found Roxie and it was the perfect fit.

Buddy

Buddy (now known as Jax) is such a sweet boy with loving eyes. That is exactly why when his future parents saw him on the ABR website they knew right away he was the one for them! With prayer and hopes, he was still available for them when the time came for them to find their fur son. He will now make their townhouse a home and be loved and cared for as he deserves.

Jagger

Jagger's new family has always had boxers. After they had to put their boxer to sleep, they started their search for a special friend. This boxer needed to be special because he was going to grow up with their young son. Jagger, the dark-masked boy with the beautiful amber eyes, was just the boy. Jagger is a sweet, obedient boxer who is very mild mannered. He is the perfect companion for a young family!

Tug

Tug's young life started out very sadly. He was chained outside in a North GA yard with his fur brother for weeks on end in the searing sun without food or water. Despite these terrible circumstances, Tug managed to keep his sweet disposition charming everyone who came in contact with him. After he arrived at his ABR foster home, it was not long before the perfect family was located - a large family with a stay-at-home mom and 5, yes FIVE, skin brothers and sisters of all ages. Tug will never lack for human love and attention again! He has been truly blessed and his new family feels that they have been truly blessed as well!

Titus

Titus narrowly avoided being a statistic. As an owner surrender to an animal shelter, he had less than 24 hours before his number was up. Fortunately ABR made room for this beautiful big boy and he narrowly escaped death. Once safe inside a foster home, his loveable sweet personality won over his foster family and every other person to whom he was introduced. One of those people was a man who had just a week earlier lost his 11 year old big boxer named Jake. He, his wife, and their boxer, Dot (also a rescue) were in desperate need of another big boy. Titus was the perfect fit. They are so excited to have him in their home. Happy romping big guy!!!

Tyson

Tyson has found the perfect forever home! He has a Mom and Dad that adore him and a fur brother he adores. In fact, his new family has affectionately nicked named him ‘mini me’ because he is so attached to his big brother that he follows him around everywhere! He loves chewing on bones, boxing, and playing keep away. His family reports ‘He has been a great addition to our family!” Congratulations to Tyson and his forever family!

JB

Congratulations to JB and his forever family! JB has found a wonderful forever home complete with a new fur sister! His Mom and Dad were heartbroken when they lost their boxer who was soon followed by their other sweet pup. There was a big gap to fill but they were on a mission! When they adopted Belle we were excited for them and for her and were overjoyed when they decided to make JB their second boxer! JB and Belle have a great time playing and wrestling. In fact, before the end of the first visit JB and adopted Belle and was on guard to make sure no one (or dog) was bothering her! Now they can both be found keeping watch at their new forever home! Congratulations JB! For finding the perfect forever family!

Harley

Harley, now Gregor, is a true ABR success story. He started his life locked up outside. When the Humane Society picked him up, he had cuts around his neck from being chained in the yard. Despite being mistreated by humans, Gregor had nothing but love and kisses for people. Atlanta Boxer Rescue stepped in to help find Gregor the perfect home, and boy did he find it! Luckily for Gregor, his new brother had a birthday coming up, and was allowed to get a dog as a present. It was love at first sight and these two started playing right away. Gregor now gets to sleep in his new brother's room every night. He goes for runs every morning and plays with all the neighborhood dogs. Gregor has found the perfect home and the perfect family that he deserves.

Otis

Otis came to ABR with his two sisters, such a cute puppy everyone knew he would be adopted quick! He has found a great family and will have a cat sister, and three big brothers. It was all love at first sight. It was hard to see little Otis go, but we feel great knowing what a great family he has now!

Muggsy

Muggsy has a forever home! … a great mom and dad, two awesome skin siblings and a fur brother that he gets along well with. Both fur boys are around two years of age with lots of playful energy...look out! While Muggsy was meeting his new family, the mom spoke of the initial connection with their current boxer Tugger, how he crawled up in her lap and that was that. Shortly after, guess who was in Mom’s lap! That Muggsy is such a sweetheart. Once again a deserving boxer further enriches a positive and happy family.

Reno

Reno came to ABR via an owner surrender on Memorial Day weekend. He was a very sweet boy and healthy as could be, but his owners could no longer take care of him. After his check-up at the vet, there was an applicant who was immediately interested. The applicant had just finished dog-sitting her friend’s boxers and had fallen in love with the breed. She had never had a dog of her own, so she was very excited to meet Reno. As soon as Reno saw her, he ran to her like they were long lost friends! Reno and his mom now go on walks, play fetch, and tug-of-war. He loves his car rides with his mom and, of course, afternoon naps. The two were an instant success and she couldn’t imagine her left without her beloved Reno! Congratulations on your forever home sweet boy!

Matilda

Matilda came to ABR as a stray from Rome Animal Control. She had a large open wound - no telling what had happened to her in her short life. Despite her rough start, she always displayed the sweetest demeanor and wanted nothing more than to find a family who would love and care for her forever. Well it wasn't long before that perfect family came along and welcomed Matilda into their loving arms. We at ABR are so happy for Matilda (now Roxy) and her forever family - congratulations!!

Oscar

Oscar's Story

Oscar is a really good dog. He is hilarious and lots of fun.  He has the cutest face when he is sleeping. I just can't keep my eyes off of him.

He absolutely loves our family and he loves Beggin Strips. He just adores those little things. He also likes to give out his own tasty licks, everyone specially when he gets excited. He loves long walks, playing at the dog park and water (with lots of ice.) At the end of a long day, he loves sleeping on his pillow in my room.

We looked for a new furry brother for a long time -over a year. But we were surprised when we finally got him home. I love Oscar to "Reeses pieces. I'm so glad we chose him and he chose us. We all love him!

By N., age 9

Casper

My foster Mommy tried. She REALLY tried to be a good foster Mommy. But, she fell in love! With me! I knew that she would have picked me a great forever home because she played with me, walked with me and loved on me, but, I sure am glad she decided to be my forever home because I fell in love with her too! I am soooo happy now. I have someone I can truly trust that she will never hurt me and she will protect me from bad things. We play in the back yard and I show her how I like to jump up in the air and turn in complete circles and do flips. She throws the ball and I love chasing it and bring it back to her.
One thing she hasn't let me do yet is go to bed with her at night. She bought me a real nice bed that I go to sleep on right next to her. She doesn't realize it yet but I sneak up on her bed in the middle of the night, I lightly touch her cheek with my nose then I curl up next to her, facing her, watching her and falling back to sleep. I am the 1st thing that she sees in the morning and we cuddle. I think someday soon I will be invited to go to bed at night with her. We are soo happy. Thank you ABR!!!!

Brody

Brody had a very rough start to his very young life.  He was picked up as a stray after being hit by a car.  His hip was broken and his back legs were lame for several weeks.  He was skin and bones and was also diagnosed with heartworms and a severe skin infection.  His rehab with his foster family took over 4 months.  After very good medical care and lots of good food, it was time to meet his new forever family -- a retired couple who had recently lost their beloved male boxer.  Their female boxer needed another playmate.  It was love at first sight --- right off the bat, Brody lavished his new Mom, Dad and fur sister with kisses.  He now is living "the life of Riley" with a huge fenced yard to play in and spending his days and nights with his new family, so happy to have found a loving and happy forever home.  Congratulations Brody - you deserve and got the best!

Luna

Luna was adopted by an amazing family who have always had dogs growing up, including Boxers, and wanted the same for their two boys. Luna’s forever family emailed me and said they just love her so much and that they now have three children. They love her sweet personality, demeanor and her little nub tail. Apparently she already has a ton of nicknames from Luna Bird to Luna Belle. Luna loves playing outside in her yard and rolling around in the grass on a sunny day! She has settled right in to her new home and we could not be any happier for little Miss Luna and her new family!

Valentine

Valentine was almost a foster failure, but when Faye, Dave and Diesel arrived to meet her, it was obvious that this was a match made in heaven. Dave and Faye have owned three previous boxer rescues and truly understand the process and embrace the unfolding of a rescue personality. In general, Valentine was afraid of males, however after only a few hours, Dave was receiving kisses. Dave and Faye are a lovely couple and they went all out to welcome Valentine with a new bed and collar and her own feeding station and Valentine has already been introduced to neighborhood friends. Diesel, Valentine's fur brother, was very hospitable also and they even played a little bit in the yard. This is a true rags to riches story as Valentine, who was fresh of of the streets just four weeks ago, finds herself living in a big beautiful home with big open spaces to romp and play. She loves having a big fur brother to show her the ropes. Valentine will round out this wonderful family perfectly. They have never owned a female boxer so she will be treated like a princess and be spoiled rotten! Her foster mom was very sad to see her go, but elated that Valentine will be so happy in her new forever home. She thanks Valentine for many beautiful memories and lessons learned.

Trooper

Trooper’s new family is so excited that they have a new member to add to their two kids and two dogs.  Their response was “We ABSOLUTELY LOVE him!!!  Yay!!!”  We knew he was a great dog when the foster said that even though he was her tenth, he was her favorite. We wish Trooper the best in his newly expanded family.

Finn

Finn is home with his new pack! His new family was heartbroken when they lost their boxer after 12 years and were looking for a new boy to add to their pack to fill the vacancy. Finn was the perfect match! Not just in looks but his personality fits right in with both the fur siblings and his family! He loves to wrestle with Dad, cuddle with Mom, and play with his skin brother. He likes his new fur brother and sister and is having fun investigating the huge yard he has to play in! We are so happy for Finn and his forever family and wish you all the best and many, many years together!

Chance

Chance (now known as Groucho due to his pink mustache and playful personality) has gone to his forever home! He is blessed with a family that rarely needs to leave him alone and loves his playful, sweet disposition. They have been working on helping him build up his confidence and were pleased that he is becoming confident enough to bark at noises. They are amazed and his obedience, willingness to follow commands, and enjoy play time with him. Congratulations to Groucho and his forever home!

Enzo

Enzo was met by a fabulous couple who both work from home and have always had boxers. At one point, they had three. They are now down to one 12 year old female, Nikita, and wanted another. Nikita, other than her all over grey, could pass for a dog less than half her age. In her youth, Nikita ranked in the top 10 nationally for agility. She has maintained her sporting physique all these years. Their boxers have had issues over the years and they were not fazed by Enzo's separation anxiety. They came solo on Wednesday to evaluate him and loved him. They brought Nikita back to day and she thought he was ok too. (Most importantly he would not interrupt her queen (alpha) position in the house.) They are thrilled to have him. His foster family is sad to see him go and thrilled that he is in a home where he will thrive and be loved.

Suzy

After fostering numerous dogs, Suzy has turned her parents into first-time foster failures. Her mom couldn't get her picture out of her mind, and when she called to ask about the mangy senior boxer, she was told the dog was scheduled to be euthanized the next day. Before she knew it, she blurted "We'll take her!" Suzy left her initial vet visit with at least 10 medications, but she was so affectionate and EASY that her fosters couldn't help but fall in love with her from the start. Once she started to feel at home, her personality started to shine and they realized just how funny she is. Suzy's foster dad made a strong case for keeping her and her foster mom couldn't argue it, so she is now a permanent part of the family. Suzy and her Boxer-brother Carter enjoy running and wrestling and are often found sleeping on top of each other.

Winnie

Winnie, who was renamed GeGe, was adopted into a loving home of a retired couple, whose dog-loving grandchildren live just doors away. GeGe was so calm and happy upon meeting the family, we knew it was a match madE in heaven! GeGe's new family has already begun to spoil her, and we are so content because we know GeGe is in such a wonderful home and will be loved forever.

Tina

Tina Faye, formally known as Tina, has found her forever home! Tina Faye was our first foster and has gone to the perfect home. Tina Faye and her fur brother, Casper, have become "best bubs" as her skin mother tells me. She is playing ball and even stealing toys from her brother, just priceless. She has adjusted and settled into her new home and we could not be happier. Congratulations to Tina!

Jewel

Hurray for Jewel and her forever family! Jewel was our heartbreaking story straight out of Animal Cops. You know the animal on the brink of starvation, so bad they can’t even stand and with a long road to recovery? Well, Jewel did recover and she found the perfect forever family to go to! See her skin papa has a ‘little girl’ he has had for 15 years and he dotes on her and her on him, but mama lost her boxer and she was lonely. So she started looking for the perfect dog to fill the hole in her heart and life that her boxer had left. She found Jewel! Jewel was quite a drive but you know love knows no bounds! So papa packed up his girl and mama and brought them up to meet Jewel. Mama loved Jewel and Jewel loved mama right from the start! Papa’s ‘little girl’ and Jewel were not immediate best buds but they could just pretend the other did not exist. After all, they each had their human to look after! So Jewel went home to live with her new family! Mama and Jewel started to settle in to their routine including their daily walks. Mama says Jewel is so precious when she wants to play while they are out on their walk and as the first week passed they felt she was a doll and they were in love with her. Mama especially liked it when Papa got up to go to work in the morning and Jewel took his place in bed! Since then the two girls have become fast friends and can often be found napping on the couch! Congratulations to Jewel and her forever family! We are so happy for you both!

Hope

Hope has found the perfect forever home and has settled right in! Her skin Mom and Dad think she is so much fun, The first night after wearing the entire house out, Hope and her dad fell asleep on the couch snuggled up together. Dad had a hard time leaving her in the morning to go to work because she is so much fun! They report she is the sweetest girl and is getting along famously with Bentley, her fur brother. It took her a couple of days to figure out that playing is for Mom and Dad, and cuddling is for her fur brother. (She is quite a bit bigger than he is!) Mom reports that ‘When Hope and Bentley are together, they kiss each other's faces and snuggle up for warmth. Hope has settled in perfectly. She is already adjusted to her new routine and is so well-behaved in the neighborhood with other pets and people.’  I know their success comes from their willingness to spend time with her and tire her out. She loves the attention and the play times! Hope really has found the perfect forever home! Congratulations to both Hope and her new family!

Suh

From Suh/Sydney's new family: "Within 10 minutes of getting Sydney (formerly known as Suh) home, she and her fur sister were inseparable. They play constantly and never ever fight. When they are too tired to play anymore they cuddle up and sleep together. They don’t spend a minute out of each other's sight. Our friends and family can’t believe they aren’t sisters from birth! Sydney is a joy to have around and loves to cuddle when she isn’t playing with her sister. She loves her new mommy and daddy and is the perfect addition to our family. We’ve been looking for just the right dog since December and are glad we waited to find Sydney. We hope to enjoy many years together as a family."

Blazer

Since Blazer was a special kind of guy he went to a very special forever home. He has the house and his skin parents to himself. He lives on a lake and will get to ride on a boat come nicer weather. His new family knows all about Boxers too, so he is in the best of hands. Such a happy ending compared to the yucky animal control where ABR rescued him.

Penny

Penny (now Khloe) found a forever home written in the stars. After losing a beloved dog to cancer, her new mom waited a long time to find the perfect dog. It just so happened that Penny shared a name with her new mom, and they were both named for their copper colored hair. She instantly loved her mom and curiously followed her around the house. Her mom was willing to work with Penny/Khloe when she had some trouble adjusting to sharing her house with doggie visitors. Penny/Khloe is a lucky girl, spoiled with a mom who works from home and showers her with love.

Tank

Tank is a big, mellow, loveable boxer boy. He will play outside. When he comes inside he just wants to be next to people or to sleep. From the first sighting of Tank, his new mom’s heart melted. When she saw how calm he was with her four year old daughter and her senior dog, she started getting excited. When Tank went outside with the Dad and knew that was an ok time to play, they knew he was the right dog. A couple of days later, their eight year old son met Tank and loved him. He was a perfect fit for the whole family. We will certainly miss the happy guy at our house, but know he has found a perfect forever home.

Tiger

Tiger is a great dog who had a rough start to his young life. Luckily he has found his forever home with an amazing family! They have two young boys who Tiger absolutely fell in love with and they also fell in love with him from first start. He has adjusted well in his new home with his new fur brother Roscoe! When I first got Tiger out of the car their oldest son came running over saying his name and gave him a huge hug! It was amazing to see Tiger light up when the boys came to love on him. I will miss Tiger, but he is in great hands with his new family and is truly loved!

Jake

The handsome boy Jake has found his forever home and couldn't be happier! As soon as his future parents saw his picture on the website, they knew that he was the one and called right away! The are really great parents who run and hike and now Jake even has a fur sister to run and play with in the backyard. As soon as the two dogs met each other they played nonstop until they wore themselves out. This was truly the right match for Jake's new family and he is now one happy boxer. We are so happy he found such an amazing home!

Roscoe

Sweet and loving Roscoe, appropriately dubbed “WB” for his wiggle butt, enjoys a life of spoils. He is part of a great family that he definitely deserves. Roscoe shares his mom and dad with two kitty siblings; he’s so good around kitties. Sharing his mom and dad certainly doesn’t mean he lacks for love and attention. Roscoe is a busy boy these days- running, walking, hiking, and play dates! Roscoe and his family are bonding nicely which is no surprise because he truly is a wonderful boy. So grateful this little wiggler is living the dream. Many blessings to this new family!

Ginger

Ginger “Bean” has found her way home. This little spunky mom will spend her life with a family of four. She will enjoy playing with two great kids, ages 5 and 7, riding in her dad's truck, or with the windows down in mom's yellow Camaro! You may see Ginger again at the Atlanta Roller Girls events, her mom is a member.

Yogi

Yogi came to ABR with entropion (inverted eyelids which cause eyelashes to continually irritate the eye) on both eyes and an ulcer on one eye. He could barely hold his eyes open. He looked like a fighter that had lost his last match. He was very dejected and did not want to even move from the car that had transported him to the foster’s car. The 50 lb. puddle of a dog had to be carried. Yogi has both separation and crate anxiety. This boy needed a home where people were around and crates were not. Fast forward two months…Yogi has had his eyes fixed (twice…the first time he managed to get the stitches out) and has become the happy-go-lucky dog he was meant to be. He has been adopted by an amazing family where the mom homeschools the children and the dad sometimes works from home. In addition to the constant companionship of humans, Yogi has Lilly, the Boston terrier who shares his passion for balls; Nemo, the three-legged cat; and another feline friend. His foster family really misses him, but we are thrilled he has found a forever home where he will continue to thrive!

Gracie

Sweet little Gracie has found her forever home! Her new family rescued a boxer named Josie 4 months ago and wanted to add to their family by getting a second one. The moment I read their application, I knew they were going to be taking Gracie home the day of their meet and greet. Gracie met her new family and instantly fell in love. Gracie and her new fur sister Josie were cuddling on the couch after meeting just a few hours before. Gracie's mom said, "They are two couch lovin' ladies. They are doing do well together, and Gracie is offically a GA bulldog. She has definitely fallen in line with our lives and we're so happy to have her!" I am so thrilled that Gracie has found a home with such an amazing family!

Jackson

Jackson is another one of ABR's rescues from Animal Control. Jackson has a unique under bite. He always looks like his tongue is just poking out (it is really his gums) and gives him the cutest expression. He is so thankful ABR saved him and Jackson is eternally grateful to have a fabulous new home. He has a mommy who loves him and a fur sister, Emma, who is fast becoming his best buddy.

Sally

Sally, now known as Belamy, is another great boxer that ABR pulled from Animal Control. In the beginning, she was a little nervous. Her nerves did not stop her from playing with both pets and people. Her foster mom thought she would do great in a family with another dog and possibly a child. With the help of several dedicated ABR volunteers, a phenomenal match was made. Belamy now has a fur friend, Baldwin, and a skin brother to keep her happy.

Sassy

Sassy, now known as Raven, came to ABR from an animal control facility. When an ABR representative first saw her, she was so nervous she would not come out of the corner of her kennel. The next time the ABR angel came to see her, she was able to get her out of her kennel. She was a love bug from the beginning. Her tail wagged at everyone and every dog she saw. She loved the attention she was getting. At the same time, the parents of Hurley, an ABR alumnus, were looking for a new addition to their family. With Hurley and Raven, it was love at first sight. Hurley loves his little sister and Raven could not be happier.

Max

Max came to ABR an exhausted, skinny, worried boy. After some food, rest and a bath, his personality came bounding out! One evening, friends of his foster mom came over for a visit. When they saw Max, it was love at first sight! Who knew friends dropping by for a visit could turn into a hero’s welcome for Max!?!

Max's future dad went home that night and completed the application. There was a family in front of him who was interested in Max, but a quick phone call from the family inquiring if Max was ‘laid back’ was all they needed to know. Max is a typical young, energetic Boxer, so ‘laid back’ is NOT a phrase that describes him! After them home visit, we learned that Max had a forever home! Max's new dad, his brother and two nephews all came to bring Max home. Max left and went outside with his head held very high. It was like he knew how very proud and lucky he was to have a new start where food, love and warmth were never far away! With his shiny new name tag jingling from his new green collar, Max jumped into the front seat of the truck and never looked back!

Tye

A letter from Tye (now Zeppelin):

I have found the perfect home. I am the only child in the family, but that just means I don't have to share my treats and bones with anyone else, which I enjoy! My mom fell in love with me the moment she saw me. When I hopped in her lap, she knew I was the perfect dog for her. Although I am deaf, my mom says it is fairly easy to train me. I know the signs for good boy, sit, stay, come, and I am currently learning how to lay down. I'm a pretty quick learner because I love all of the treats I get! My mom works at a Dog Daycare, so I get to come to work with her and play with all the other dogs. She also takes me for long walks daily. My mom says I'm really spoiled. I'm not sure what that means, but I know it's a good thing! I could not be happier to have found such a great family to share my boxer love, wiggles and kisses with!

Tebow

Tebow has found the perfect home! His new family has been looking for the perfect addition to bring home! Both Tebow and the new family are so excited to bring him home! He will have a feline sister, a complex full of playmates (maybe together they can wear actually tire him out!) and close family friends to play with. He has fallen into the lap of luxury as the ‘only child’ (aside from the feline variety) and mom plans to have him protect her at night by sleeping with the new family pack! For a baby that has so much time in isolation, I am sure this will be a salve to his soul. All the love, attention and playmates his heart could desire! Congratulations Tebow!
