Meet Miller
One of the unfortunate realities of pet rescue is that some folks don't treat their animals the way you and I do. That's often why we have to rescue them. One of our current Boxers, Miller, is just such a case. Miller's previous owners did not love and care for him the way a Boxer deserves. He was underweight and had some medical issues, and ultimately ended up at a local animal shelter. Thankfully, we were able to take him into our system and get him a good foster home. We had a vet address his medical issues. Through generous helpings of food donated by Urban Pet Supply, water, love, and play, Miller is quickly starting to take on a personality all his own. His foster fur siblings have taught him how to play, and he's got a new toy just for him. There's nothing better than a good ol' Boxer wiggle, and Miller is even learning how to do that. In short order, Miller will be ready for his forever home, and we are confident that he's going to become everything that a Boxer was meant to be. Of course, we couldn't have even gotten to this point without the generous contributions of people like you, and we thank you for your support!
Fun Upcoming Events
Wine. Cheese. And Boxers? Yes, they do go together! But only if you attend the first-ever Boxer Talk: Wine & Cheese Edition. On Wednesday, July 23rd, Sassy Paws Pet Boutique in Cartersville will host Dr. Toby Carmichael from Acworth Animal Hospital with a wine and cheese reception starting at 7pm. Dr. Carmichael will give us some background on common Boxer maladies, and will be available to answer your questions. This is a great chance to meet fellow Boxer owners, learn what you can do to care for your Boxer, sample some tasty food, and help out Atlanta Boxer Rescue. Order your tickets in advance for just $15 ($20 at the door) by visiting our website or catching up with an ABR volunteer. All proceeds go directly to supporting our rescue efforts. Got a case of the Mondays? Then you need to wind down after work. Join Atlanta Boxer Rescue from 7-9pm on Monday, July 28, at Bailey's Restaurant in Kennesaw for Bailey's Boxer Blowout! For just a $10 donation to ABR (and a two drink minimum), enjoy a complimentary buffet, pool, darts, and meeting fellow Boxer owners and supporters. Our rescue operation continues to move full-steam ahead! We currently have two beautiful Boxers in our foster network. And if all goes well on Saturday, a very-excited little boy Boxer puppy will move into his foster home. Our volunteers are keeping their eyes open and their ears up for Boxers that need our help, so be sure to keep an eye out for updates to our Available Boxers page, where you can learn all about the Boxers we are rescuing, as well as how you can complete an Adoption Application and give one of them a great forever home.

Atlanta Boxer Rescue is looking for a "Few Good Homes"
Actually ABR is looking for many good, quality foster homes. We are officially open for business with three foster homes. It's a great start but the more foster homes we have, the more Boxers we can save. If your love of the breed translates to wanting to help save the breed, then we would love to have you! Opening your homes to deserving Boxers who, for the most part, have not really known what a "home" is can be an extremely rewarding experience. Fostering involves training, vetting, and mostly, loving a Boxer. Some fit right in, but most come frightened and need to realize that we are there to help and not hurt them. Through the love of a foster home, our rescues will learn manners and training, but mostly that they are worthy of love and a forever home. If you can provide just that, please go to our website and fill out a foster application. Once you submit the application, someone from ABR will process it and contact your references. Then they will contact you for a telephone interview and set up a home visit. The home visit is the last hurdle to getting your first foster. We are excited and look forward to hearing from you!
